Analog Expression/CV Sequencer (2013)

A CV expression pedal with programmable steps, quite similar to vintage analog sequencer concept. A near-remake from classic EHX Drum Sequencer from 1979 with new moden features but also with some missings points.

Overview

OVERVIEW PEDAL (weight: 0,8 kg / dimension: 146 x 121 x 64 mm) the main panel features 9 levers, a rotary encoder, 2 buttons and 3 switch buttons. Terminal connectors: - Midi input - CV tension out - Foot controller input - CV Expression input.
Power supply is a 9V external PSU DC 100mA negative center -)+: It is NOT possible to use it with batteries!

USE First main core based on AMTEL. This 8-steps modulator is especially designed for real-time performance which principle is quite simple: the step modulator cyclically outputs a voltage control wich controls a CV parameter from an external unit such as effects or synthesizer. It is quite easy to create cmoving textures or rich rhythmic patterns. It is also possible to set the number of steps for a sequence from a minimum of 1 to a maximum of 8.

Filter

MOTION the generated control motion can be played once or looped and played back in 4 modes:

1- Forward

2- Backward

3- Bounce (forward then backward)

4- Random

The motion can be reset to first step by pressing the RESET SWITCH.

CV CONTROLS CV the generated tension can be modified by 2 parameters:

1- DEPTH 8 quantisized values

2- GLIDE AMOUNT smooths the CV between the steps.

Value can be set internally by rotary encoder or externally using an optional expression pedal.

SYNC frequency can be set internally either by encoder or tapping, in addition there are 7 tempo dividers (with dotted and tripplets) that provide a huge range of BPM from 17 up to 3000.

Is it is also possible to externally sync the unit using 2 ways:

1- Midi clock

2- external trigger pulses.

Memory, modification and Midi

MIDI all parameters can be set also using Midi control changes.

MEMORY - 10 slots + 100 slots if using optional 8 step foot controller.

MODIFICATION AND RESET unlike a traditional sequencer, the 8 STEP badly lacks a gate output to trigger a synthesizer. There are some modification online to provide such obscure lack. FACTORY RESET PROCEDURE : Switch ON pressing and hold both the TAP and PLAY FSWs. You must hold both FSWs for at least 1 second !
