Overview
portable 37 velocity keys and aftertouch.
The main panel features a 40 X 2 lines display, 7 knobs and 40 push buttons. In addition 5 assignable knobs for real-time parameters, 2 wheels for pitch bending and modulation.
Back panel terminal connectors:
- card slot for memory card
- stereo out
- Midi interface
- input for EC5 external controller
- footswitch input
Voice
monophonic and monotimbric synth based MOSS synthesis aimed to emulate modelled acoustic brass and reed instruments.
Structure
a patch is created by a layer of 4 elements:
- MOSS digital oscillator 1
- MOSS digital oscillator 2
- digital white noise
-
suboscillator 4 waveforms: sine, square, saw and triangle.
MOSS Oscillator
each MOSS oscillator offers 5 different sound generations:
- Standard Osc is a virtual analog emulation of traditional analog synthesis
- Comb filter Osc is a comb generated filter, feedback loop with lowpass filter that extracts harmonics contents out of a white noise.
- VPM frequency modulation based on simple 2 OP Operators structure
- Modulation Osc creates ring modulator, frequency sync and crossmodulation between oscillators.
- Acoustic physical modeling (APM) acoustic instruments physical recreation of reed, pluck and brass
Algorithms
oscillators can be combined only in 12 preset pathways
Filter
Prophecy features 2 identical filters at -12d/B octave combined in both serial or parallel way.
Each filter can be set to a 1 of 3 filter modes: lowpass, highpass and bandpass
LFO
4 digital modulator, frequency range from 0 to 60 Hz syncable to Midi clock. A single LFO offers 26 waveforms with variable phase offset and delay IN-OUT.
Effects
DSP generates 7 different models: distortion, wahwah, EQ, chorus, flanger, delay and reverb
Envelope
there are 6 EG all features 4 segments + 5 time levels:
-
EG 1 is routed to amsplitude.
- EG 2 is routed to pitch.
- EG 3-4-5-6 are freely assignable to quite any parameters.
Arpeggiator
5 preset patterns with adjustable velocity and gate length.
3 possible directions:- UP / DOWN / RANDOM
Memory
-
128 RAM slots
-
128 editable memory patches
- 1 custom arpeggio slot
-
64 others on S-Ram card model Korg SCR-512.
Review
OK: performance control / Moss synthesis
NOT : display / breath control / hard to understand
" Very interesting as synthesizer! you have moody solos at your fingertip! Not as good as Yamaha VL for breath emulation and lacks a decent breath control. if you prefer chords, check out the Z1 model instead"
