Elektron Analog Rhythm

Drum machine (2014)

elektron analog rhythm

" Analogue drum synthesis with sample playback , updated in 2019 with MK2 "

Overview

OVERVIEW  high quality compact metal cabinet, 12 rubber pads with velocity (missing the classic 16 from MPC?)  and aftertouch.
Pretty small 122 x 32 pixel display in 8 bits style and classica array of elektron encoders which sends MIDI messagges for automation.
System works with 48 kHz, 24-bit DAC / ADC.

TERMINAL CONNECTORS
MIDI In/Out/Thru (can be set to Sync mode with 24 or 48 PPQN )
2 × 1/4″ impedance balanced main out jacks
4 × 1/4″ dual mono separate voice out jacks §
1 × 1/4″ audio in stereo jack
1 × 1/4″ stereo headphone jack
USB 2.0 port

Sound

SOUNDS  There are 12 available drums arranged into tracks: with these  abbreviations family BD, SD, RS, CP, BT, LT, MT, HT, CH, OH, CY and CBF.
Analog Rytm generates eight independent voices that can be used to give sound to as many percussive timbres generated with 3 different synthesis modes: Noise Generator, Percussion Sound Generator and Sample Playback Engine (load your wav stuff). The sound then is passed thru a dedicated envelope generator for amplitude, finally to analog overdrive circuit, compression and distortion with adjustable amount.

SOUND GENERATOR features various models according the the sound:
-Classic beat drum is a sinewave modulated thru the pitch EG with variable tuning, sweep and waveform (symmetry).
-Bass drum hard same as above with SNAP factor
-Bass drum FM based on basically the classic beat drum with linear modulation frequency with variable modulator and carrier
-Snare is created with 2 detuned oscillator mixed to white noise and snap factor; hard and FM factor are variation similar to previous explained Bass Drum models.
-Rimshot two oscillators mixed with an impulse generator and a noise generator
-Hand clap, similar to 808, it is composed by two parts a repeating EG (flam) with a noise generator
-Bass TOM similar to Beat drum with sinewave generator
-Closed Hat Classic – Open Hat Classic based with 6 square wave oscs thru complex filtering.
-Cymbal Classic: similar to Hihat process
-Cowbell: more cowbell! its due square similar to tr808 (gosh, we still get back to the roots).

Sequencer filter and fx

SEQUENCER pattern based system with recordable sound parameters, variable quantisation, swing, user lenght and time-signature (also odd).
A maximum of  4×16 steps is allowed with classic accent, slide and a lot of advanced functions.Patterns can be recorded to either Grid Recording or Live Recording; first one is based o n.... guess what ,TR roland machines then it is possible to spice the pattern with MicroTiming (up to 384 precision) . Live mode, as the name says, is more a drummer approach with metronome function, with some performance function like drum rolls
Finally patterns can be chained to classic song.

FILTER multi mod 12 dB/Oct

FX reverb and delay

MEMORY 1GB internal SSDD called +Drive with a max amount of 4096 drum sounds + 128 projects, each with 128 kits and 128 pattern
