■ Modern revamp of classic Yamaha DX operator "FM" synthesis with a real time control approach like Yamaha DX200. The case is the same as wavestat with only three octaves wide (velocity but no aftertouch.) and quite some controls.
■There are six classic operators here, each of which can act as a carrier or a modulator. Each operator features 21 "basic" waveforms. The first are classic sine waves at different resolutions (HD 12-bit, 8-bit) , and these are joined by a triangle wave and two cloase sawtooth and square waves. Finally 11 ‘additive’ waves + 2 noise generators
■ Polyphony is also increased from 16 to 32 voices.
■Compared to classic DX, there are more algorithms (40 vs 32) , plus an interesting user algorithm mode whereby users can assign their own operator routing and modulation depth within the synth itself.
■ The wavefolder (similar to many eurorack) works by folding the oscillator wave back in on itself after it reaches a certain amount.
■ 30 different effects including Peaking EQ, shelving EQ, phaser, short delay, comb filter, distortion, drive, decimator, waveshaper, and punch
■ Although not on classic FM, the opsix features digital Low-pass, high-pass, bandpass, and band reject filters. Korg boasts to have modeled MS-20 and the Polysix models.
■ Patches can be loaded from huge dx7 library.
■ Also a plugin VST version which is quite the same, with full compatibility.
