Classic digital groovebox for pattern , Realtime lives and more. A more complex version of previous MC505 with way more waves, bigger display and sampling option, not to mention the SRX expansion from XV series.
Got this from a nice guy from Dergano in Milan, he told me he did a lot of lives and the machine needs to be overhauled. The machine works, and there are many custom sounds and sequences as well as stickers to cover the brand , as well as the letter "R" modified to seem "POLAND" that 's quite fun! Main troubles detected are: smart card reader not working as well and stiff sliders and classic sound pad not working. Well time to grab the screwdrivers!
UPPER: The are a LOT of screws- first the external chassis are all the same. To access the mainboard you have to remove quite everything: Screws on I-O are all different as well as PSU, 2x dbeam boards, USB and voice board-CPU. Take some pictures before.
UPPER: remove the flat with extreme caution. All have specific lenght so you cannot really mess that up, as well as direction. Pin 1 was marked with red sign on mine. Be sure to discharge transformer capacitor which still holds 150V before event touching it.
UPPERAll so filthy in there! A lot of dirt quite everywhere, no wonder the sliders are so stiff. Smart card was quite easy with dust spray, just worked (no picture sorry)
UPPER cleaning all the 19 sliders is A LONG job. You have to unsolder them all, carefully open and clean all the dirt inside. After some silicon lubricant for smooth movements. Value are the same K for left section, also the mix have their own. Remember some sliders have "O" center value, a little hole on the right side.
Finally the pads have been cleaned with alcohol. The rubber conductive ribbons must be checked if still good with ohm meter. If not, you have to either replace them with spare parts or add some conductive silver solution. I am not sure if the velocity will be exactly the same as preset, but at least it works.
All seems working now. Nice machine! Oh and I will have to correct the "POLAND" brand... or maybe not, it's a personal touch.
