Drum Computer (2003)

 

Portable analog drum machine with sequencer, Midi and some real-time knobs.

 

DRUM MACHINE hand-held unit made in Germany.
Main panel features 15 buttons and 27 tiny knobs.


Back panel terminal connectors:
- Midi input
- stereo 1, 5 mm out
- 4 separate outputs.

Power supply is a 9V external PSU positive in center - (+

 

VOICE main core 8-bits Atmel AT89C4051 manages 7 voices polyphony.

 

DRUM The 502 voice board generates 8 analog percussions (some are channel-shared) each with individual mix gain:

kick - tune changes pitch - decay defines length - attack emphasizes the click at the beginning clap - release - pitch - noise amount snare - tune changes pitch - lenght - amount of white noise (snappy) cymbal - variable attack - filter tone - lenght bongo - same as kick tom - same as kick hihat open/close - decay changes release length

 

 

SEQUENCER the principle is based on classic TRX0X step sequencer.
There are up to 16 steps but you have to alternate 2 rows of 8 steps and 72 patterns with FILL-INS.
SYNC: sequencer can be synched to other Midi clock devices.
MIDI: is limited to instruments dynamic triggering but implementation cannot record knobs movements.
