Trend price : 200-300€
Digital remake version of the vintage Prophet VS from the defunct Sequential Circuits. The series is famous for both vector synthesis and the so-called "wavesquences".
Overview
There are 3 wavestation machines:
- Classic keyboard 61 keys
- Rackmount AD (with audio input)
- Rackmount SR
Voice
32 voices based on 16 bits AI Korg synthesis system. A basic patch is composed by 1 / 2 / 4 digital oscillators (or wavesequences) PCM samples.
Vector motion
the 4 PCM layers can be controlled by the vector function that mixes their pan image and amplitude: just move the stick toward cardinal directions A-B-C-D (the center is considered as perfect equal gain between oscillators).
Wavetable
- classic keyboard : 2 MB rom
- classic keyboard with EX option: 4 Mb
- Rackmount AD: 4 Mb
- Rackmout SR. 4 MB
Wavesequence
this feature is inspired from the PPG Waveshaping process: a succession of waveforms read in a special way aimed to create animated
textures or rhythmic patterns sequences.
A wavesequence is defined by a maximum of 250 editable steps triggered by notes played forward, backward or with some internal loop points clocked to internal or external Midi Clock.
Perfomance
system handles up to 8 parts
Envelope
there are 5 Egs: 1 for each tone + 1 aux
Filter
digital 4-poles lowpass filter with no resonance.
LFO
2 delayed modulators with matrix source destination mode.Modulators waveforms are: triangle, square, saw, ramp and random
Memory
-keyboard: 150 performances
-AD: 200 performances
-SR: 550 performance

Review
OK: texture / classic digital
NOT : fx / edit logic / filter
"All-time immortal: today programming on LCD may be not be so hot, but deep programming reveals some unique sounds textures and far more distinctive characters than the relative plugin VST "
