Voice
core 16 bits microcontroller HF6415108F (part of HD6415 - h8 / 510 / 500 family) manages 28 voices polyphony. M-SE1 module is based on PCM rompler subtractive synthesis and each patch is composed by 1, 2, 3 or 4 PCM samples layers. M-SE1 is more like a preset machines: all sounds are ready to go and it is impossible to edit quite anything from main panel, most parameters can be modified only using an external Midi SYSEX generator.
Wavetable
ROM contains 162 samples mainly focused on strings but also orchetral instruments e.g harps, timpani, harpsichord, tambourine.
MSE1 can do also electronic sounds since it features some basic analog PCM (number 118-141).
Performance
up to 7 parts + 1 drum.
Each part can be set with a single patch with variable multitimbral parameters:
-
volumegain
-
stereo panning position
-
reverb and chorus level
-
detune amount
-
Midi channel assign
Filter
section is based on digital TVF -Time-Variant-Filter and 3 classic modes: lowpass, highpass and bandpass
LFO
2 modulators, 7 waveforms and 2 possible destinations:
- LFO1 amplitude
- LFO 2 filter
Envelope
- EG1 amplitude: 4 stages ADSR
- EG2 filter: 4 stages ADSR
- EG3 pitch: 4 stages ADSR
Effect Effects can be applied only to master and not single parts:
- 8 reverbs +2 delays implementing famous Roland RSS System technology
- 3 choruses.

-
18 performances
-
170 patches
- 2 rhythm sets
-
1 global setup
Review
OK: cheap / original samples
NOT : edit / display / outdated / memory
"Original strings from Roland maybe the most hard-to-find model: a pain to edit, like all this series! "
