TECH system based on NEC 8 bits CPU is able to manage 8 voices.
Each voice is composed by 1 digital oscillators PCM sample with variable parameters:
|
-
volume gain
- panning position
- pitch tune
- mono o polymode
- start phase adjust (mainly for cymbal flanging effect) |
WAVETABLE internal ROM contains 23 PCM samples onboard recorded at 12 bits, these sounds are mainly classic acoustic percussion.
|
DRM1 sound list:
kick (x4) , snare (x4), hihat (x2), ride, crash, handclaps, tom (x3) , conga (x3) and timbale (x2) |
EXPANSION the wavetable can be expanded using PCM cards memory card ROM also compatible with other DDD model.
There are about 45 official Korg cards around plus third-part:

ENVELOPE only the sample decay can be set for each percussion.
PERFORMANCE basically the DRM-1 can be played in 3 ways:
|
- Midi interface with velocities (e.g keyboard, drum machines):
- Trigger interface (hook up to electronic drum pad ) up to 8 sound samples can be assigned to an invidual out and trigger input with adjustable pad sensibility. The incoming trigger signal are converted to Midi out data.
- Sequencer (described below) |
SEQUENCER patterns can be recorded in real-time mode with some features e.g : punch in/out options, overdub, loop mode, metronome, tempo change and quantisize (up to 1/48 resolution maximum).
|
SYNC internal tempo (from 40 to 250 BPM) can be set by TAP tempo or synched to external Midi clock.
Hear synched sequencer |
MEMORY:
- 16 settings
- 16 songs
- 4400 notes.
The Recorded sequences can be stored either to to magnetic tapes Midi exclusives or to a RAM card model MCR-02 (128kb) also compatible with MCR-03 (256kb) also used by workstation synthesizer Korg M1.
