Digital multi-effect rackmount unit: for the first time the RSS Roland Sound Space technology was implemented into an affordable effect for the masses.

RACKMOUNT single rack unit. The main panel features a 16 X 2 LCD display, 15 push buttons, 1 encoder and 2 knobs.

Rear panel terminal connectors:
- Midi interface
- stereo input at +4 / -20dB + stereo analog outputs
- bypass pedalswitch input ( FS-5U FS-5L)
- pedal control input (e.g FV300L+PCS-33)
- pedal expression input (e.g EV5)

Power supply is external PSU with AC-AC14V 700mA - original model is Boss BRC-100.

 

 

TECH the core is based on a HITACHI CPU HD 6413002F which handles an internal sample rate of 44 kHz at 18 bits resolution, frequency responses from 5 Hz to 55 Khz.

Relative ADC/DAC is a TDA1309H the DSP can processes the 2 channels individually or paired depending on the effects.

STRUCTURE many sub-menus, main encoder for data entry.
A single patch is composed by 5 activable effects or EFFECTORS categories:

1- RSS 3D 2- modulation 3- reverb 4- delay 5- equalizer

1- RSS is a 3 dimensional audio field process that "moves" a sound on the the 3-axes dimension (left-right + above-below).

RSS Sound movement can be set using various parameter like azimuth, elevation, pan and start point: moves the sound horizontally along a perimeter of a theoretical sphere. There are 4 RSS models: panner 3D, single 3D, dual 3D and quad. RSS 3D effect

MODULATION section features 10 special modes:

- flanger (stereo or mono) features exponential or special Ofw1 modulators - chorus (stereo or mono) - chorus: 2-bands - space chorus: based on Dimension D Sdd320 - phaser (stereo or mono) 4 or 8 stages - pitch-shifter: 2 or 4 voices - harmonizer: 4 or 2 voices - rotary speaker simulation Many modulation editable parameters like phase, pan, LFO (triangle or sinewave shape).

Other reverberation parameters including room size, damp, cutoff density, gate time, feedback and more. vocal reverb

DELAY section offers 7 modes: standard, 3 tap, 4 tap, 3D panner stereo, quad 4 serial delays, ducking and bandpass (up to 5 BPF filters)

SYNC delay tempo can be set by Midi clock or tapping the control pedal. delay effect

EQUALIZER is a 3-bands parametric EQ (peaking or shelving) and 11 parameters.

ALGORITHM EFFECTORS can be chained in 19 algorithms signal paths order including serial/ parallel - note that some effectors cannot be summed for dsp limit.

MIDI up to 2 parameters can be asssigned to any Midi CC# (including aftertouch and pitch bender).

MEMORY:

- 128 RAM users patch (spotted a 81C4256 + HM62864LFP) - 128 ROM presets. Patches can be saved only by Midi Exclusives dump. BATTERY REPLACEMENTlithium CR-2032 3V clipped in a holder - replacement is quite easy.
