FLAME MIDI
TALKING SYNTH (2007)

 

The FLAME MIDI TALKING SYNTH is a small-sized MIDI-controlled sound module based on the IC Speakjet chip, produced by america company Magnevation LLC
A must for lofi robotic voices and digital babling!

MODULE main panel features 2 joystick controls, 4 knobs, 2 rotary selector and 18 level switch.

Back panel terminal connectors:
- Midi IN and OUT
- Main analog signal out

PSU: 9 VDC

TECH two internal Speakjet IC speech and each of them provides a mono audio output (at 32 kHz PWM output) assigned to stereo channels 1 + 2 (pseudo stereo effect) with adjustable mix control.

Each chip contains : - 72 speech elements (so-called allophones) - 43 sound effects - 12 DTM touch tones (phone)

USING THE FLAME the machine can be used in 2 modes:

- Real time with joystick motion record - Midi module expander

REALTIME CONTROL The synth is played by using the joystick TALK to trigger sound (center is zero). Movement can be recorded and sequenced (with external sync clock) but not triggered by Midi.
Some special functions:

- HOLD: freezes the current position of the joystick. - LOOP: loops the current allophone - SPEED: Playback velocity of the internal allophones - MIX: sets volume between the 2 chips voices - TREMOLO: each voice can an indiviaul tremolo effect

Midi module expander this section is more simple, in only triggers some preset words organized into various theme banks:

1- numeric 2 - technics 3- pop culture and music 4- nature and people 5- phrase 6- Phoneme and allophone 7-Sound FX

EFFECTS tremolo only for sequencer section
